Stating the Obvious

From the instruction book for our new oven ...

  • Warning: Risk of burns! The interior of the oven becomes hot during use.
Really? Now that is a surprise.
  • This appliance is intended to be used for cooking, roasting and baking food in the home.
Surely not! I would never have guessed ...

Seriously, do they think anyone who can't work out that an oven will become hot and is meant to be used for cooking is likely to read the instructions?

Yet it was probably written that way because someone tried to sue them for not warning them.

Well I was going to sue the manufacturers of all my cooking, toasting and boiling appliances because they inexplicably burned me when they were switched on! But perhaps I'd better check the warnings first before I proceed with my complaint. :)
